Redbud, Appalachian
Cercis canadensis 'Appalachian'
Appalachian Redbud is a superior selection over the native species for the sheer vividness of its buds and flowers. The buds appear as ruby red and then open to a deep hot pink flower. The straight species is a disappoinment compared to Appalachian when they are in flower. Use Appalachian Redbud where you want a smaller growing, early flowering, "hooray, spring is here!" tree.
