Chocolate Vine
Akebia quinata
Chocolate Vine is a stout, twining climber with fragrant chocolate-purple flowers emerging in March/April. The flowers often get lost among the foliage. This is a rapid growing vine that could also be used as a groundcover, however; it is very vigorous and it's spread should be monitored. The plant may be deciduous in colder climates.
